Individual Therapy
Everyone needs help from time to time. Individual therapy is about rediscovering one's self, or maybe discovering one's self for the first time. Events from our childhood or past will influence our thoughts, beliefs and patterns throughout our life time.
At times, we need to take a closer look in order to break old habits and patterns and develop new, healthier ways of dealing with life and relationships. Things like trauma, depression, anxiety and inability to cope effectively with daily life can keep us trapped in a state of low motivation and despair.
Therapy is one way to unlock the true self. Working through trauma and unhealthy relationships as well as learning to set and keep healthy boundaries can provide a new outlook on life and repair broken self-esteem. I have seen lives changed and relationships healed beginning with the one relationship that is priority. The relationship with one's self.

EMDR Therapy
For those of you who have seen the movie Inside Out, you may recall the concept of our core memories and how they are stored as a sphere. Normal memories have the emotions, sounds, smells, pictures, words all attached to them and when you go to sleep your brain files things away into your long term memory. When you experience trauma, that sphere shatters and sends shrapnel throughout different parts of your body; so the smells, sounds, emotions, etc are no longer together. Then when you get triggered you feel it so intensely but sometimes don’t know what it’s attached to.
EMDR is like a search engine that scans your body and memories and puts the sphere back together so it can file everything away into your long term memory, so it doesn’t interfere with your day to day as much. Living with shrapnel stuck in your body is painful and it’s hard not get triggered because it wants to come out and come to the surface. But we can’t process it until we can put the memory together to put it behind us.
